A scalable naming system for one of Iceland’s largest pharma players.
Alvotech needed a name and tagline for a new division built on partnership and progress. I began by exploring their vision, understanding the division’s purpose, and clarifying what the name needed to communicate. To keep the process transparent and collaborative, I set up a scoring system where stakeholders could rate each suggestion. Bold directions were tested, refined, and debated until one clearly stood out.
The chosen name, Adalvo, comes from the Latin ad alvo, meaning “towards Alvo.” It evokes movement, focus, and clarity - qualities that inspired the name and reflect the division’s ambition. To support the growth of Adalvo’s new B2B entity, Adalvo Plus was introduced as a flexible naming platform for enhanced services. My reasoning was: think of it like “Disney+”: an extension of the core name that could evolve with new offerings without diluting the original identity.
The approach combined three naming methods with a strategic lens to generate options that were sharp, memorable, and ready for real-world use. The result is a naming system that signals purpose, reflects partnership, and gives the division a flexible framework to grow and expand with future initiatives.
